By Your Side was written by my daughter Sophie, with myself and Robin. It was specifically for the wedding of my other daughter Amy, and was incorporated into the ceremony, where we performed it live, with the addition of Sophie’s husband, Nathan, who assisted Sophie on vocals. In the third verse the lyrics “you knelt there on the dusty ground” were a reference to Amy’s fiancée, Mario, proposing to her in the desert of Death Valley, California. I didn’t think the words “Death Valley” should be in a wedding song!
