Help Yourself

We decided to write a happy song after a run of sad songs. This is it. I’d like to think it’s very catchy & cheery, with deliberately somewhat perfunctory lyrics. Mostly just kept the first thing that came into my head.  It was written quite quickly in those joyful sessions when it just seems to flow without trying too hard. As Leonard Cohen reputedly replied, to the question where do the songs come from, “I don’t know, but if I did, I’d spend longer there”. Sometimes you can hear snatches of songs drifting by, sometimes it’s like opening a parcel and it’s all inside. This one was the latter.
